Do You Need New Rotors? Understanding Minimum Rotor Thickness | PowerStop

Engraved on the side of your rotor you can find the minimum operational thickness.

To accurately measure against the minimum thickness use a micrometer at the thinnest point on the surface of the rotor where it meets the pads.

If your rotor needs to be cut or has worn passed this thickness, you’ll need new rotors. You may also discover your rotor has Disc Thickness Variation. Which could be part of a larger problem in your brake system.

  1. Using a mic like a C-clamp, SMH. There is no way it’s good for reading tenths anymore.

  2. low IQ video when it would all be rusted and covered by the time you think you would even need to replace them. Brainless video.

  3. WTF this guy has a feeler ratchet and used that micrometer like its a clamp. The Smaller diameter on the side has a ratchet inside to achieve the same pressure every time after it has been calibrated to a known good standard.
