Honda OEM Motor Mounts vs Aftermarket (Duralast)

First impressions comparing genuine Honda OEM engine/motor mounts with aftermarket motor mounts from Autozone (Duralast brand)

I order most of my OEM parts from HondaPartsNow.com and eBay. Between the two of those I have been able to source every OEM part I am looking for. Physically going into a Honda dealer has never really been anything but a headache and I tend to avoid it at all costs unless im just buying ATF fluid.

The OEM mounts are going into my 2008 Honda Element EX AWD

I am replacing all 4 motor mounts, but in this video we are only comparing 2 mounts; the front engine mount, and the passenger side engine mount.

HUGE thanks to Miguel @Element_lifestyle for installing these parts for me. He has installed $2,000 of OEM Honda parts in my Element in the past few weeks.

  1. For a 2005 crv they’re charging about $700 for a set of OEM mounts. That’s almost half the value of the damn car.

Aftermarket or OEM, you’re getting fucked.

  2. It appears that the Honda P-side mount is a hydraulic dampener mount. While the Dura Last is just a rubber mount.

  3. Yes OEM costs a lot more most of the time. Though how many times do you want to this job ?
Also, if they fail again, excessive engine movement from mounts, can lead to damaged AC lines, and many other parts. I’ll pay once and cry once…

  4. 4:10 For Honda the metal seems a little more sturdy – ha ha ha, impressive. ” Impreeeeesive review”, man!!! You seem more sturdy than the guy you spoke with at the beginning, ha ha ha.🤣 Just looking at that bracket, one can see they are both sturdy. You are clearly biased due to prices.
