For all the people saying this was a cracked exhaust manifold leaking as stated in a TSB, the head gasket can be clearly seen in the video that it was blown, not the head itself. Happy to report that the car is back together with a new head gasket now. 100% leak free.
I watched another video regarding this engine; and supposedly there were coolant leaks resulting from “cracks in the cylinder head” (see: @usedcar1601, Skyactiv-G engine); but was redesigned in 2021 to address this problem (take it with a grain of salt) 🧂.

Whew… glad I only have the 2.0l, NA Skyactiv. ~145,000km (~90,000 miles) on it and it’s still running perfect with just regular servicing/oil changes.
18:30 I caught an engine analysis video by German Mazda specialist SPS the other day. In it they showed a torn down (and tuned) 2.0 that they had only used on the track and which had failed after 80,000km. Connecting-rod bearing failure on cylinder 4 due to, probably, slow oil starvation due to a lack of baffle-plates in the sump. They briefly showed and talked about that sleeve/jacket around the cylinders and while they also didn’t know what it was there for, their theory was that it had something to do with changing the way coolant is directed or flows around the cylinders. The guy suspected it might be an emissions-thing (to help warm up the engine quicker from a dead-cold start, perhaps?). Someone in the comments mentioned that Porsche do this as well and that it might be to provide additional surface for cooling/heat transfer – resulting in being able to run a smaller amount of coolant.

My brother in law asked me after the fact…I just told him never let it go out of powertrain warranty, and make sure to include the fuel system (new inline 6).
And this is a 4 cyl head gasket?!?
Audi is so jealously watching this right now ❤
