It all depends where u live and drive. I live on the north shore of long island. Beautiful clean paved Roads. I use K&N performance filter on my Nissan frontier and before that my Toyota Solara. Never a problem. If you’re racing around the Back roads of Hazard county in a Orange 69 Charger…I would not use a K&N!
Been using k@n fiter for 30 years and never had a problem. Just use some common sense when you put some oil on it.
Here the deal on the oil contaminating the MAF. EVERY time I have bought the K&N filters. I WASH all that oil OUT of it. I use a hard garden hose attachment and spray all of it out. I am amazed of the oil slick left in the bucket water. I then let the filters dry out for 2 days. I have done this for over 20 years on my cars. NEVER an issue. Wash it, let dry, install 2 days later.
High airflow = Less filtration. These are fine for track use. But, considering the negligible increase in MPG or HP absolutely NOT worth allowing more dust/dirt into your engine. You want your engine air scrubbed clean and not compromised.
