Mass Air Flow Sensor

This video shows you how to install a new TRQ MAF sensor in your 1997-2003 Ford F-150. The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor determines the mass flow rate of air entering your vehicle. A trouble code indicating the sensor is not working properly could be because it is dirty, malfunctioning, or damaged, in which case your vehicle may run poorly or enter limp mode. Fortunately, sensors are typically easy to replace.

This repair was done on a 2003 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L Crew Cab Pickup 4-Door 4WD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
1997 Ford F-150
1998 Ford F-150
1999 Ford F-150
2000 Ford F-150
2001 Ford F-150
2002 Ford F-150
2003 Ford F-150

Tools you will need:
• Pocket Screwdriver
• 10mm Wrench

  1. They quoted me $470 for this! I wonder if these sleezy mechanics are frustrated with the wealth of online resources we have now

  2. My only comment is that you should separate the two halves of the air filter housing first. Your video doesn’t show that the air filter housing closest to the fender, has a black rubber intake elbow into which the air filter housing has to fit into first.
