Hi everyone, here’s a straight forward video on V Belt Sizes and when you might need to know it. Thanks for joinging Neil here on the Whitelaw Automotive & Performance Youtube channel!
Do you have a belt that’s worn down or broken, and now you have to go and replace it? We’re here to help! Neil Harrison, owner of Whitelaw Automotive, one of North America’s longest continuously operating businesses (1856), is here to explain it to you in plain english and help with identifying your auto or industrial v-belt.
What types of belts are there? How do you tell what size you have, and how to tell what might have broken it in the first place?

what if we have no manual AND no belt? I got a new to be air compressor that didn’t have a pump(rod snapped and piston seized) or a belt with it….got a new pump but need a belt now
Nope. Classical/ standard v-belts (A, B, C, etc) are all the same angle. One letter/size is not more “steep” than another.
“Automotive” belts DO have a standard name- Wedge or narrow-wedge. Each size of wedge belt has the same angle. A different angle from classical/std v-belts. Kevlar is not a different type of belt. It’s just construction material, like fiberglass or not.
Very, very helpful….I’m trying to find the right belts for my Kubota snowblower before the snow season hits and the former owner had made some modifications. This video was EXTREMELY helpful to me, thank you so much for taking the time to make it and I also want to apologize for our president being such a ROYAL ASSHOLE to our friends up north.
Very good video thank you
